Michal Cafrey-Yardeni

Senior Political/Social Activist

Michal has vast experience as a successful political/social activist in Israel. She has a bachelor's degree in history from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and a degree in law from the Ramat Gan Academic College of Law, with a specialization in human and social rights. Michal joined the Jerusalem Institute of Justice in 2006 and currently serves as Senior Political/Social Activist, initiating and overseeing legislative initiatives and social justice projects carried out by the Institute.

Prior to joining the Jerusalem Institute of Justice, Michal worked as a Parliamentary Assistant, Political Journalist for "Kol Ha'ir" Newspaper, Director General of Likud World International (London), Advisor to the Chairperson of the Knesset Committee for the Advancement of the Status of Woman, Advisor to the Minister of Communications, Member of Inter-ministerial Committee on Violence Against Women, and Senior Advisor to Minister of Education, Culture and Sports.

As Senior Advisor to the Minister of Education, Culture and Sports, Michal dealt with a wide spectrum of social issues, and worked with Knesset and ministerial committees, public institutions in Israel and abroad, public funds, NGO’s and other policy-making bodies. Her responsibilities included formulating policy strategies, crafting working programs, and developing international investment in Israeli education. She represented the Ministry at international forums, including the United Nations, and was responsible for the foreign relations of the Minister’s office, requiring close cooperation with the Foreign Ministry and embassies, education institutions and Jewish organizations abroad.

Beyond her work for the Jerusalem Institute of Justice, Michal currently serves as a member of the Board of Directors of the Israel Women’s Network, where she works to advance the status of women in Israel by enhancing equal employment opportunities and combating domestic abuse, sexual harassment and trafficking of women.
